Director, Strategic Operations & Integration · TELUS Digital · Toronto

Hi, I’m Zeerak. I turn strategy into systems that run.

PMOs, compliance programs, revenue systems, and most recently the operating model for a three-way merger. I build it, then I own it.

About

Most of my work starts the same way: something important has no owner and no system behind it. Somebody has to go first. That is usually me.

I joined at employee eleven. By the time we were a hundred and sixty, I had built or led most of the operating machinery underneath: the PMO, SOC 2 Type 2, the first single source of truth, the resource allocation platform, and the identity and access model.

That work travels under different titles depending on the size of the company: Chief of Staff, business operations, strategic operations, integration lead. The job underneath has not changed. Turn the strategy into operating rhythms people can actually run, own the metrics that show whether it is working, and leave behind playbooks somebody else can pick up.

Right now that means TELUS Digital, formerly Badal.io. That merger was the biggest version of the job so far, and the part nobody puts in the press release: what happens on Monday morning, once the deal is signed and everyone still has work to do. That work is largely behind us. The current one is folding several acquired businesses into one Google Cloud partnership.

I trained as a software engineer at Ontario Tech and started in data governance at Hydro One, which is still where most of how I think about operations comes from.

How I work

I can tell what is actually hard.

The engineering background means I scope realistically and I am hard to oversell. It also means that when something is quicker to build than to specify, I build it. The Apps Script behind our statements of work took an afternoon to write and the GTM team still runs on it.

I take what nobody owns.

When the IT lead left, I ran IT. When there was no PMO, I built one. When compliance did not exist, I architected SOC 2. Most of the work I am proud of started as somebody else’s gap.

Operational problems are usually data problems.

I learned that early, in data governance, and it has held everywhere since. Before I fix a process, I work out what it is quietly lying about.

The people downstream matter more than the design.

A system nobody adopts is a system that failed. I would rather ship something plain that 140 people actually use than something elegant they find ways to route around.

Experience

TELUS Digital

Formerly Badal.io
2021–Present Promoted four times
  1. Director, Strategic Operations & Integration

    Mar 2025–Present

Merged three companies into a single operating model: 70+ platforms consolidated, 140+ people migrated, and $1M+ a year of duplicate software spend taken out.

Appointed Lead Strategic Integration Advisor, acting as force multiplier for leadership by translating acquisition strategy into roadmaps, decision rights, and the change management that let a startup operate inside enterprise governance. Directed IT Operations through a security migration without dropping service availability. Owned platform renewals, contract negotiations, and vendor vetting, built the KPI set leadership tracks the integration against, and cleared blockers across RMO, PMO, and HR as the business scaled.

Ran IT and the SOC 2 program until both ran without me, then handed them to the team developed to own them. Now consolidating five Google Cloud Partner Advantage entities into one across the acquired businesses, so the certifications and specializations each of them earned carry into the combined practice.

  2. Business Operations Manager

    2024–2025

Built the operating backbone a 120-person consultancy needed to scale: governance and standardized workflow across HR, RMO, PMO, and Sales, sitting on a platform stack of 40+ tools.

Delivered a 12-month SOC 2 Type 2 report from scratch, running the audit end to end, after enterprise clients made it a procurement requirement.

Point of contact for Badal and Bitstrapped through the TELUS acquisition, the counterpart to TELUS’s own integration lead. Decided what stayed, what was retired and what migrated, on whose timeline and under whose contract, and wrote the interim governance that held while it happened.

Moved the company onto Salesforce and Certinia as its first single source of truth. Owned procurement and renewals, and ran the Google, HashiCorp, and dbt partnerships at full compliance, taking the certified population from 15 to over 100 in a year. Wrote the Apps Script SOW generator that cut sales-to-delivery time by 75%.

Ran IT after the lead left, and developed the junior team inside it. Vetted candidates for senior project and program manager hires, against what the delivery work actually required. Most of this moved through people who did not report to me, across HR, IT, PMO, Ops, and RMO.

  3. Account Manager

    2023–2024

Generated $6M in cloud services revenue, 150% of annual target, by turning engineering capability into signed work.

Ran the portfolio as technical lead, securing renewals and account expansion. Wrote the customer success stories behind the work and built the GTM decks with Google’s partner team to carry them to market.

Let’s talk.

An integration that has stalled, a revenue system nobody trusts, or an operating model that has not caught up with the headcount. Those are the conversations I want.
